Armstrongs’ Intern, Craig Mosetlha, Attended the Refugee Conference Hosted by UN High Commissioner For Refugees in Partnership With the UB Law Department

In his capacity as President of the University of Botswana Law Society, Craig attended the Refugee Conference under the theme “Fifty Years of Refugee Protection in Botswana: Reflections on the Past, Present and the Future”.

The purpose of the Conference was to reflect on how Botswana has afforded protection to refugees and asylum seekers since independence and how she may improve. One of the issues discussed included the need to amend the 1967 Refugee Recognition and Control Act to align it with international standards as set in international instruments. Craig was astounded by the magnitude of the current refugee problem experienced in Botswana. But hopes that through these platforms and the level of research and expertise demonstrated particularly by the presenters, the situation will better itself.
