Neill was legal advisor to the feasibility study for the Botswana International Financial Services Centre, the conceptualisation of a collective investment undertakings industry and legislation, the overwhelming majority of the share and note and bond offerings listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange, the first dematerialised paper issued in Botswana, the P2,5 billion Bond Programme by and the subsequent bond issues of Government. Neill was the representative of the Botswana Law Society on the Reference Committee for the amendment of the Companies Act, instrumental in the promulgation of the new Companies Act which came into force and effect in July 2007.
Neill has led numerous negotiation in respect of tax structures with and run appeals against the imposition of tax, with and against the revenue services, and is one of the leading tax advisors in Botswana .
Neill was lead local counsel in respect of the privatisation of Air Botswana and is currently lead local counsel to the privatisation of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, the Public Private Partnership in respect of Botswana University of Science & Technology, the project finance Mmamabula Energy Project (involving the establishment of a mine and power station) and the consultancy for the revision of the legislation and regulation pertaining to the Botswana International Financial Services Centre.
Neill has over 25 years professional experience and professional appointments which have involved all aspects of company law, the Companies Act, the Botswana Stock Exchange, its Rules and Regulations, the Income Tax and VAT Act, the IFSC and Collective Investment Undertaking legislation, with frequent liaison with and advice to the Registrar of Companies the Bank of Botswana, the International Financial Services Centre, and the Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatization Agency (PEEPA) which has afforded insight into the philosophy of the regulatory environment, as regards the private sector involved in commercial and corporate activity.

John has undertaken and conducted, as lead counsel, numerous trials and arbitrations in all fields of commercial law particularly: banking, construction and engineering, property, medical field, civil aviation, insurance industry and labour law.

John conducted the first Aircraft Accident review proceedings in Botswana.
An expert in building and engineering law, John drafts numerous agreements for the provision of professional services, and construction and has acted as mediator or arbitrator in disputes between employers and contractors, including a dispute between a major property developer, a major contractor in respect of the largest shopping centre in Botswana .
John has appeared as attorney and counsel in respect of an arbitration concerning the construction of the Bokaa dam, representing judges of the Botswana Court of Appeal in respect of claims made against them, in respect of a hearing before the Court of Appeal defining the ambit and effect of provisions of the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund Act, as representative for a defendant in a medical malpractice trial which endured nine weeks.
John has acted as advisor to Debswana Diamond Company and regards the International Certification of Diamonds and presented Paper at International Certification Conference held in Gaborone as well as authoring an article appearing in Traders Magazine on Botswana as a Financial Services Centre and contributing an article to Finance Week in respect of telecommunications in Botswana.

Sipho's specialisations are corporate commercial legal transactions; mining law; commercial research and due diligence enquiries; capital raisings, offerings public and private, listings, corporate governance; negotiating and drafting commercial takeover, subscription, management and shareholders agreements; and labour relations.
Sipho is a key player in the Commercial Department. He has acted counsel to many of the recent offerings, listings of shares, linked units and debt instruments in Botswana. He undertook review of legislative regulatory environment in respect of the privatization of Air Botswana, the Government Bond Issue, the sale of Governments PDSF Loan Book to a Special Purpose Vehicle, and the issue by that Vehicle of collateralised debt obligations.
Sipho was attorney to the acquisition by major shareholders of minorities in a listed company by way of scheme of arrangement and the subsequent de-listing of the company from the Botswana Stock Exchange. On an ongoing basis Sipho carries out and gives advice on the law and regulatory environment in Botswana with regard to securities, financial instruments, derivatives and swaps to multi-national companies and international law firms. Sipho supervises numerous due diligence investigations in respect of companies in all aspects of commercial activity and in connection with local and international offerings, takeovers, mergers and acquisitions.
Experience in the litigation and arbitration department, dealing with numerous disputes in respect of design, engineering and building contracts, has equipped Sipho with regard to and he is familiar with the most sophisticated of such contracts, and their management and allocation of risk and responsibilities.
Sipho has a keen interest and specialisation in the resources sector; an expert in mining law he has acted as advisor to numerous of the multinationals with interests in Botswana amongst them being Xstrata, Norilsk, De Beers and Debswana, Firestone Diamonds, IAM Gold.
