Ada Mgadla is an Associate in Armstrongs’ Commercial Department. His specifications include; commercial litigation, labour litigation, drafting and reviewing of commercial agreements, drafting opinions and providing advice on compliance and regulatory frameworks.
Ada also provides advice to local and international companies on banking law, energy law, labour law, insurance and regulatory matters including the regulations of the Companies Act. He has had an opportunity to also deal with matters involving Income Tax and Financial Services Laws.
Notable Work Done
Assisted in drafting Court documents placing Capital Management Botswana (Proprietary) Limited under statutory management;
Assisted in drafting Court documents for the temporary closure of Fincraft (Proprietary) Limited and Fincraft Retirement Fund in terms of the NBFIRA Act;
Assisted in drafting Court documents for Gambling Authority in legal disputes relating to the regulation of casinos;
Advising NBFIRA on an ongoing basis with regard to enforcing financial services laws,compliance and regulatory requirements of the non-bank financial sector;
Assisted and advised Alexander Forbes Botswana in preparing Board of Adjudication documents in relation to a tax dispute matter involving withholding of royalties and PAYE;
Attending to labour litigation and related trade dispute matters for Transport Holdings (Proprietary) Limited and Furnmart Limited;
Assisted in updating a legal matrix for Vivo Energy (Proprietary) Limited;
Assisted Letlole La Rona Limited in the drafting of a circular relating to the acquisition of Watershed Piazza Mall from Just Posh (Proprietary) Limited;
Assisting and advising Gemological Institute of America and Vivo Energy Botswana (Proprietary) Limited on the requirements of the legal environment, tax issues and regulatory issues associated with conducting business in Botswana.
